Schools

In Turkey a childl start their primary school education by the time they reach 6 years old.

Private & International schools have their own enrolment policies. For their enrolment policy, refer to the school's website.

Enrolment to Turkish Schools: documents required

Primary school

•             Identity Cards (original and copies) of parents and child

•             Certificate of Residence

•             Three recent identity-sized photos of child

•             All other documents prepared by the school

Secondary school

•             Secondary Schools Exam (OKS) documents

•             Six recent identity-sized photos of child

•             Certificate of Residence

Identity Card (original and a photocopy)

For enrolment to the 6th, 7th and 8th grades, the Level Determination Exam ( SBS) results are considered. For the enrolment to secondary schools, a Secondary Schools Exam (OKS) result is required; the overall points calculated are influenced by the results of the SBS.

School uniform is compulsory at Turkish schools, this is to avoid highlighting social class differences between rich and poor students
