While taking a stroll I came across main beach (this is what is called by expats) the sand stand out then to walk and see how sparkling the sea is. Its so clean you can see the fish swimming around people. Also on main beach you have a lot of bars, restaurants and shops which are all open early til very late. II took a local taxi up to the marina which was recommended to me and how different it is to main beach. On my way there we came past a fun fair where the driver explained this is 3rd beach area which is not as busy but you as nice. I went into the marina where I went into a restaurant and had a Turkish breakfast and got to see some beautiful boats coming in and out.
There is also a place called 2nd beach which is part of altinkum with a beautiful beach bars shops tea houses etc.
Speaking to another expat she informed me didim is where all the locals shop and its where you can get anything to help you live here, what we would like to call our town.
Other places around Altinkum are Akbuk, Mavisehir, Yesilkent and Yesiltepe. Some of the things you can do while in altinkum are a Visit to Apollo temple which is near the entrance to Didim or a horse safari/Jeep safari. Best day I had was on a boat trip leaving from the harbour also having a traditional breakfast at Bafa Lake.
I also had the opportunity to go and visit the Greek island of Kos and all I can say is wow what a beautiful place and been able to do this as a day trip is just great
This trip runs every day with Didimsealines and they was great they explained everything to me and there driver was there to pick me up and also bring me back to altinkum once the day was over, it was a early start but we'll worth it so I got to spend a whole day in kos not just a couple of hours.
