Amphion was a name attributed to various individuals in Greek mythology. However, the better known Amphion was the son of Zeus and Antiope. He had a twin brother, Zethus, with whom he built the city of Thebes. He was the husband of Niobe and had a number of children together, collectively known as the Niobids. However, his wife and his children were killed by the twin gods Apollo and Artemis; upon hearing the news, he committed suicide.
